Crazy Localization Exhibited at the First SHIBUYA GAME CROSS

LeonaSoftware participated in the SHIBUYA GAME CROSS / 404 Not Found Open Table Showcase, held on June 13, 2026, at 404 Not Found on the fourth floor of Shibuya Sakura Stage.

At booth SGC-01, we presented Crazy Localization, an adventure game and meta-RPG about game localization, programmed by LeonaSoftware representative Leona Takahashi. The compact character-raising game device Thumbylina was also displayed.

404 Not Found serves not only as an event space but also as a café where visitors can relax with a drink on Yogibo seating and artificial grass. Unlike a conventional game exhibition, this environment allowed us to meet people who had not come specifically for games, including visitors passing through after shopping at TSUTAYA or stopping for a meal.

Many passersby paused to watch the promotional video or look at the character merchandise displayed at our booth. We also found that some visitors preferred to explore at their own pace rather than being approached directly. During the latter half of the event, we adjusted our communication style and allowed interested visitors to engage with the exhibition more casually.

Approximately half of the people who played Crazy Localization were localization professionals or game developers who had come after seeing our announcement. The other half discovered the game while passing by, and many had never previously encountered the term “localization.”

One participant commented that playing the game gradually made them notice inconsistencies in game text that they would normally overlook, making the experience feel like exercising a rarely used part of the brain. This response demonstrated the game’s potential to introduce a specialized professional subject to entirely new audiences through play.

Thumbylina also received fresh reactions from visitors outside the usual game-event audience. The first SHIBUYA GAME CROSS gave us a valuable opportunity to understand the distance between games and people who rarely engage with them, and to consider new ways of presenting our work. We look forward to a future edition of the event.
